FOSTER CARER HOME TOUR
All Furry Friends ARQ Foster Carers must conduct home tours for the safety of our cats.
Tours may be virtual or in person with our Cat Coordinators.
We prioritize secure doors and windows, and expect a generally clean environment with space for quarantine.​
A series of questions will be asked during the tour and a checklist will be completed. Some of the questions are:

Other animals in your house.

General information about the house (Stairs, balcony, deck etc.)

Environmental questions (Smokers, children etc)

General information about how long the cats or kittens will be left during the day etc.
These questions help us decide if your home is suitable for foster cats and kittens, and helps you understand the requirements of caring for cats and kittens.

At the end of the tour the Furry Friend volunteer will send you notification of the outcome and discuss any issues with you.
If you are approved as a loving foster carer with Furry Friends, you will receive an email with an agreement for signing, you can do that on your phone or computer (the instructions are in the email.)
Furry Friends Animal Rescue QLD does have certain requirements that need to be met before you can become a foster carer, one of these requirements is a virtual home tour to ensure your home is suitable for cats or kittens.
Most of our requirements are all fairly normal requirements of being a responsible pet owner. Our major goal is to ensure all our foster animals are healthy, happy, social and well mannered and ready for adoption.
Your Home
Is your home escape proof? Do you have screens on your windows and doors?
Kittens will test everything.
Transport
All cats and kittens must be transported in a secure cat carrier large enough for them to stand.
Personality
To build our profile for adoption day, we need to know all the little traits of the cat or kitten.
Quarantine
All cats and kittens coming into your care need to complete 10 days quarantine, so you will need the space.
Photos
We need plenty of good photos or videos for us to create a beautiful profile come adoption time.
Treatments
All worm and flea treatments must be administered on schedule and communicated.
